I’m struggling to benchmark pricing based on client type. How should I approach this?

How to quote a freelance project

I feel you, it's a huge issue with freelancing.
A technique I always use to approach this is value-based pricing, which depends on the companies or clients you're working with.
For example, if Nike wants a design, you can charge them way more compared to a local store down the street.

Some questions to ask yourself when setting your rate

1. What would make this project worth your time?

Think about not just the time it’ll take, but the effort, your expertise, and how much it feels like it's worth doing.
What's the minimum you’d charge to make it worth it?

2. Would you take less if it’s a long-term deal?

Sometimes it's worth charging a bit less if you know there’s a chance for steady work over time.
A long-term client can be more valuable than a one-off gig.

3. Are you focusing on learning or earning?

Sometimes the right project might not pay a ton, but it could teach you something or help you get exposure.
Is it about growing your skills or just making money right now?

Raise your rates with every project.

Every new project is an opportunity to increase your price. As you get better, your work gets more valuable, so your rates should reflect that.
Don’t be afraid to gradually charge more as you build experience and a solid portfolio.
