What to do before transitioning to full-time freelance designer

My experience has been up and down, what I would do differently is:
  • Line up some clients and get them on a retainer before quitting your day job.
  • Find a partner who loves sales and can handle all the client outreach.
  • Experiment with different pricing models—retainers, subscriptions, per project, etc., to see what works best for you.
If you have clients ready to buy and can secure contracts for the next few months, then by all means.
Freelancing is great but given this market, every is cutting costs.
I would spend 50% of your time getting freelance clients and 50% working on building your own products.
