As a Design Manager, it feels like I’m being made redundant even though I still have a lot to offer. Do you think I should be looking to move into a Director role instead?

Design Manager or Design Director?

As a director, you can still be a player-coach, I think the industry is moving in that direction anyway.
I don’t see many roles that are purely leadership anymore, it seems like the layoffs have hit that middle management layer.
If you still enjoy getting into the weeds and working directly with designers and PMs, I think you’ll have no trouble finding something, whether it’s a director role or otherwise.
