How to find a good design mentor

Finding a good mentor is very personal. So speaking from experience, I prefer mentors that:

4 qualities of a good mentor

1) Experience and Expertise:

Are a few steps ahead of where I want to be.
Share with practical, actionable knowledge I can use right away (no fluff).

2) Proven Track Record:

Have a proven track record—someone who:
  1. understands the nuances of what I’m asking
  1. has mentored people like me before
  1. has success stories to share

3) Two-Way Relationship:

Offer a two-way value exchange—honest conversations, where we both understand each other's value and how we can help each other.

4) Supportive and Invested:

Are open to feedback and focused on helping me achieve my goals—fighting in my corner, not just giving generic advice, and genuinely invested in my growth.
