How to be a game UX designer

Follow the right people

I would follow Lennart Nacke. He's a professor in UX research and wrote a lot about UX in Games.

Show your passion

For me, as a hiring manager, I would want to see your experience (real work or side project) in games.
Here are some questions you should think about:
  • How do I show my passion, experience, and interest in games and UX?
  • What games companies are hiring juniors or interns?
  • Which industry is a natural transition to the gaming industry?

Learn the foundation

In terms of skills, there is a lot of overlap. However, for UX game designers, they should have a solid foundation in:
  • Game types, how they work, and the differences.
  • Testing methods specific to gaming.
