But First…Why LinkedIn for UX jobs? Because of these 5 powerful but simple reasons:
#1 LinkedIn User Base: LinkedIn has recently reached over 900 million users globally.
Their users are also the most intentional when it comes to:
Finding new opportunities (job seekers) Attracting business deals (founders) Searching for talents (recruiters) #2 Recruiter Presence : Approximately 95% of recruiters use LinkedIn as a major sourcing tool to find candidates for job opportunities.
#3 Job Opportunities: Over 3 million jobs are posted on LinkedIn every month
→ Showcasing the platform's status as a leading job market hub.
#4 Engagement and Content Creation : Users who post regularly on LinkedIn see a 2x higher engagement rate.
For UX designers, sharing:
This will boost visibility and engagement significantly with your content.
#5 Networking Opportunities: LinkedIn users who actively engage with others (commenting on posts, joining live events, etc.) are 5 times more likely to get viewed by others.
For UX designers, this means more opportunities for collaboration.
Now that I’ve convinced you to take your LinkedIn presence more seriously.
Step 1: Create UX Content Consistently On LinkedIn, consistency is your superpower.
→ Aim for 3-5 posts weekly to keep your profile in constant motion.
Regular posts do wonders for your visibility and signal to LinkedIn's algorithm that your profile deserves attention.
But, there's a catch – timing is everything if you’re building on LinkedIn to find jobs.
→ Post during peak hours (8AM - 10AM, 3PM - 5PM), preferably Tuesday to Thursday
This is the time when
hiring managers are most active.
Step 2: Optimize Your Posting Schedule The time of posting can make or break your LinkedIn content performance.
You simply don’t want to post content when all your audience is asleep.
Let’s do a little analysis to understand your audience’s behaviours:
When are they online? What time zones are they in? Post when they are most likely to be scrolling through their feed.
For me, 5:48 AM CST is the magic hour.
Test, and experiment over and over again to find your ideal posting time.
Step 3: The rule of One-Post-One-UX Goal Each post should aim at one goal:
Showcasing your UX skills, knowledge, or passion.
Keep it focused.
If you have more ideas, great! Save them for your next post.
Now, let's tackle the big question...
If you’re going to be consistently posting 5 times a week
You need 260 engaging post ideas to cover the whole year, right?
You can easily generate them using my little gift at the end 🎁.
Step 4: Networking like a Pro Effective networking on LinkedIn is a MUST-HAVE as UX Designers. Make sure you:
Connect with the experts in UX. Actively engage with content from dream companies. Leave insightful comments that showcase your expertise. A strategic comment on a relevant post can lead to career-changing conversations.
