Write an engaging case study—no designs needed
Here’s what I would suggest based on your context:
1. Pick 1-2 Projects and Start Writing
Choose 1-2 past projects that highlight your strengths.
Focus on what you remember clearly and feel confident about.
Don't worry about making it perfect, just start writing.
2. Structure Each Case Study
Keep it concise and aim for ~500 words or under 5-minute read. Follow this structure:
1/ Results & Impact:
- Start with the outcomes.
- How did your work impact the project? (i.e. increased conversions by 20%)
2/ Key Actions:
- This is the meat of the story
- Highlight what you did to move the project forward—features, decisions, etc.
3/ Process:
- Explain in-depth on how this was achieved—research, wireframes, collaboration.
- Add visuals to back up your claim (more process oriented)
4/ Conclusion & Learnings:
- Wrap up with what you learned and how you grew from the experience.
3. Design Key Visuals from Scratch
Create visuals that show your design process (i.e. wireframes, flowcharts).
They don’t have to be from the actual project—use hypothetical examples.
Focus on your design thinking and problem-solving skills.
Why this? Because you still have to talk about the work you've done in the past, show examples, and ultimately land the job you're looking for.
That said, I want to stress that your portfolio is NOT the only way to land your next role, but it’s a solid starting point.
