For context: I'm confused about tailoring my portfolio for different industries. The portfolio service I use only allows one portfolio and doesn't have an option to create multiple versions. Also, can you give examples of how to tailor a portfolio for different industries?

Tailoring your portfolio for different industries

There's two typical scenarios on how you can tailor your portfolio for each industry:
  1. Online (through a URL)
  1. Offline (sent through email)

For Online Portfolios:

  • Have several versions of the homepage (h1 changed)
  • Customize about page to speak to these folks
For example, if you're using Framer (with your own URL) and can share a URL mysite[dot]com/finance with sub pages — and not link to pages not associated to other industries
Another example is using Notion. Simply duplicate your current "master folio" and customize per industry and send out your URL.

For Offline Portfolios:

  • Have several versions of your Portfolio PDFs
  • Send specific PDFs for different industries
To clarify, I'm not saying you need to create a new version of your portfolio for EVERY industry, but one's you really want to target.
You should just changing things like 1) Headline, 2)About, 3) Highlighted Project or 4) Call-to-actions… can really make a big difference.
