I mean most of the time my work is either rejected or there's rework. I get this feedback from my peers. - need more consistency in design elements - your design solutions are not for the modern systems. - you need to align the design system with the developer - research before you design. And I am the only designer in my firm

Improving design consistency and collaboration

I would do this:

  • Being Modern. Find out the style and branding elements of "modern" from the perspective of whoever is approving your work, do this with a moodboard of the products they aspire to be... a list of products would also do the trick, that way you're not running in circles figuring their taste... other brand exercises may help here.

  • Consistency and design system. Is there even a design system? If so, they have a point. If not, you'll need to collect a bunch of screenshots of the existing product, before you invent anything new. Build up a library on what exist, and work on what doesn't, before introducing a new design pattern. Another trick is use Google's Material 3 guidelines as a base.

  • Research. It really depends what they mean? Does it mean look at other products, mobbin is a great resource, or does it mean speak to users? those are very different, and you should find out what they mean.
